Long Point First Nation is currently seeking applications for the position of Human Resources Advisor.

This is a full-time position working under the direction of the Executive Director and supporting the coordination of Human Resources services for Long Point First Nation.

Salary

$27.45 – $38.79 per hour
Salary according to qualifications and salary scale.

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Executive Director and in accordance with the policies, orientations and priorities adopted by the Long Point First Nation Council, the Human Resources Advisor is responsible for coordinating the Human Resources functions of Long Point First Nation and providing advice and support to Chief and Council and LPFN Directors.

Key Duties

• Advise Directors on the implementation of HR policies and amendments
• Review, write, recommend and implement HR policies and associated procedures
• Conduct research and analysis of best practices on labour-related policy and provide recommendations to the Executive Director and Council
• Provide advice and support to Directors, Managers and Supervisors regarding employee performance management
• Support management in implementing remedial actions when required
• Ensure compliance with labour standards and employment legislation
• Participate in Management Committee meetings when required
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director

Staffing and Recruitment

• Coordinate recruitment by assisting Directors with job descriptions, qualifications and salary levels
• Develop interview questionnaires and coordinate interviews
• Advertise job vacancies using internal and external recruitment methods
• Prepare employee contracts, offer letters and related staffing documentation
• Register new employees for payroll and benefits prior to starting work
• Advise Directors regarding accommodation requests under the duty to accommodate

HR Records and Information Management

• Maintain centralized confidential personnel records
• Ensure staff certifications, qualifications and required documentation are updated
• Gather and analyze HR data and prepare reports for Directors and Council regarding employee matters

Accountability

The Human Resources Advisor is accountable for:

• Maintaining a high level of confidentiality of employee personnel records
• Providing HR advice and support to Directors and Council
• Supporting the centralization of Human Resources functions
• Contributing to the development and implementation of HR strategies and systems
