Community Garden Boxes Available Through Community Draw

Blog

The Long Point First Nation Sustainable Development Department (SDD) would like to inform community members that a limited number of community garden boxes are now available for distribution.

After reviewing the history of the initiative, it was determined that the garden boxes were originally intended to support a shared community garden. However, due to limited participation and volunteer availability, the initiative was unable to continue as originally planned.

To help continue promoting community gardening, SDD is offering community members the opportunity to place a garden box at their residence. Currently, nine (9) garden boxes are available. Interested community members are invited to contact Randy Legault by email or by responding to the community notice no later than Friday, June 5, 2026, at 8:00 a.m.

All interested names will be entered into a draw, and the first nine names selected will have the opportunity to claim a garden box.

Recipients are asked to exercise caution when removing their garden box, as a community sweeping initiative is taking place this week. This will help keep the area clean and prevent additional debris.

The draw will take place Friday morning.

Good luck to everyone interested, and thank you for supporting community gardening initiatives.
