Temporary Road Closure and Parking Restrictions – National Indigenous Peoples Day Celebration

Blog

Kwe Kakina,

Long Point First Nation would like to inform community members that a section of Kakinwawigak Mikana will be temporarily closed during our National Indigenous Peoples Day Celebration on Friday, June 19, 2026.

To accommodate the activities planned for the day, the portion of the road located between the Fire Hall and the Band Office, in front of the Community Hall, will be closed to vehicle traffic.

This temporary closure will allow additional space for:

  • Community activities and games
  • Inflatable attractions
  • Vendor booths
  • Gathering areas for families and participants
  • Other event-related programming

Parking Information

Community members are advised that parking along Kakinwawigak Mikana will be limited throughout the day. Participants are encouraged to park away from the event site and walk to the Community Hall grounds when possible.

Employees, residents, and community members who normally park within the road closure area are asked to move their vehicles outside of the affected zone before event activities begin to help ensure safe and uninterrupted event operations.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to create a safe, enjoyable, and welcoming celebration for the entire community. Normal traffic access will resume once event activities and cleanup have concluded.
