Long Point First Nation (LPFN) is hiring a Before and After School Educator for Amo Ososwan School in Winneway, Quebec.
Position: Before and After School Educator
Employment Status: Full-Time
Term: Regular Full-Time with probation period
Starting Date: As soon as possible
Salary: $19.33–$24.16 per hour, based on qualifications and experience
Location: Amo Ososwan School, 209 Azadi Mikana, Winneway, Quebec
Under the authority of the school principal and the supervision of the Before and After School Coordinator, the Educator organizes and leads activities that support the overall development, safety, and well-being of preschool and elementary school children.
The successful candidate will interact with and supervise children, plan and facilitate daily activities, support meals and snacks, maintain a safe and positive environment, and incorporate Algonquin Language and Culture into programming.
This position may require split shifts and unusual working hours based on before- and after-school program needs.
Supervise individual children and groups of preschool and school-age children.
Maintain accurate attendance records.
Ensure the safety, health, and well-being of children in care.
Oversee and manage meal and snack activities.
Clean activity areas and prepare and properly store materials and supplies.
Interact professionally with students, staff, and parents.
Plan, organize, and deliver daily activities reflecting school and Anishinabeg cultural values.
Contribute to a positive school culture and encourage children to become eager learners.
Incorporate daily Algonquin Language and Culture instruction.
Adapt to program needs, including split shifts and unusual working hours.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the coordinator or school principal.
Mandatory:
High school diploma or equivalent.
A combination of experience and education may be considered.
Flexible schedule.
Successful candidate must obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC).
Preferred:
Educational Assistant Diploma, Early Childhood Education, or School Daycare Diploma.
Knowledge and understanding of Anishinabeg Culture and Education.
