Health & Wellness Centre – Holiday Closure and Emergency Services

Blog

Please be advised that the Long Point First Nation Health & Wellness Centre will be closed for the holiday period beginning Friday, December 19, 2025, at 12:00 p.m., and will reopen on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. While the clinic is closed, nurses will remain on-call for emergencies only. Community members requiring urgent medical assistance are encouraged to contact the Nursing Station first, as this helps ensure ambulance services remain available for those in critical need. Emergency medical situations include, but are not limited to, severe chest pain, stroke symptoms, heavy bleeding, loss of consciousness, breathing difficulties, allergic reactions, major trauma, and seizures. If necessary, nurses will assess the situation and contact 911. Medical transportation will be available for emergencies only; individuals with mandatory appointments that cannot be rescheduled must contact the Medical Transportation Coordinator no later than Wednesday, December 18, 2025, before 4:30 p.m. Community members are also encouraged to contact their pharmacy in advance to ensure prescriptions are ready prior to the clinic closure, as call volumes may be high.

For support during the holidays, the following services remain available:

  • Suicide Prevention Hotline (1-866-277-3553),
  • Kids Help Phone (1-800-668-6868),
  • Hope for Wellness (1-855-242-3310),
  • Info-Santé (811), and
  • Food Security emergencies via Sabrina on Messenger.

Meegwetch, and we wish everyone a safe and joyful holiday season.
