September 16, 2025 — Long Point First Nation (LPFN) is proud to announce that it has officially received its Financial Management System (FMS) Certification from the First Nations Financial Management Board (FMB).
This achievement represents the highest level of financial certification issued by the FMB and confirms that LPFN’s financial and administrative governance practices meet internationally recognized standards.
“FMS Certification will open many doors for us. It will help build confidence among our current and future partners. We’ve accomplished something incredible, and this certification gives our Nation the credibility it deserves,” said Chief Steeve Mathias.
This milestone reflects years of strategic investments in health, education, housing, cultural revitalization, and governance. LPFN’s journey toward certification began in March 2019 with the passing of its Financial Administration Law and continued with the development of more than 60 internal policies and procedures to support strong financial systems and accountability.
