On June 10, 2025, Long Point First Nation officially ratified a historic agreement with Vior Inc., marking a major step forward in responsible economic development and the protection of Anicinabe Aki.
This agreement sets a new precedent for partnerships between mining companies and Indigenous communities. Built on the foundation of the Seven Grandfather Teachings, the agreement outlines clear commitments around peaceful coexistence, environmental respect, job creation, training opportunities, and benefit-sharing during the exploration phase of the Belleterre Gold Project.
“This isn’t just about money—it’s about respect, recognition, and responsibility,” said Chief Henry Rodgers. “With Vior, we’ve built a relationship based on openness, trust, and traditional knowledge.”
