Message of Condolences and Solidarity – Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg

Blog

Long Point First Nation Chief and Council wish to extend our deepest condolences to our sister community of Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg following the tragic loss of three community members on February 11, 2026.

We are profoundly saddened by this heartbreaking news. Our thoughts and prayers are with the immediate families, loved ones, leadership, and all members of the Kitigan Zibi community during this incredibly difficult time.

At a duly convened General Assembly held on the morning of February 11, 2026, LPFN leadership and community members took a moment of silence to honour the lives lost and to stand in solidarity with Kitigan Zibi during this time of mourning.

As Anicinabeg, our Nations are connected through shared history, culture, and kinship. In moments of tragedy, we stand together in unity and solidarity. Long Point First Nation stands with Kitigan Zibi in heart and spirit.

At this time, we encourage our community members to keep Kitigan Zibi in their prayers and to extend compassion and support as they navigate this period of mourning.

May strength, care, and unity guide the days ahead.

Chief and Council
Long Point First Nation
