Notice to the Community – Verification of Camp Located on Traditional Territory

Blog

The Long Point First Nation Sustainable Development Department is requesting assistance from community members regarding a camp that has recently been identified on mapping provided by the Ministère des Ressources naturelles et des Forêts (MRNF).

The camp in question may be unauthorized and is located within our unceded traditional territory.

Images of the camp can be found on LPFN Communications Facebook page.

We are asking that any member who may have built, owns, or is aware of ownership of this camp please contact the Sustainable Development Department to verify whether it belongs to a member of Long Point First Nation.

This verification is necessary in order to confirm the status of the camp with the MRNF and to follow proper administrative procedures. If the camp is not authorized or does not belong to an LPFN member, appropriate steps will be taken in accordance with the MRC Témiscamingue regarding dismantling procedures.

Community members are asked to respond no later than February 27, 2026.

Please note that the Sustainable Development Office does not currently have a designated phone number. For inquiries, you may:

📧 Email: nelsonking@lpfn-aki.ca
📍 Present yourself directly at the Sustainable Development Office for assistance.

We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.
