Long Point First Nation is seeking applicants for the position of Financial Analyst within the Finance Department.
📍 Location: Long Point First Nation
🕒 Schedule: 35 hours per week

💰 Salary: $49,959 – $70,597.80
Position Overview
Under the direction of the Director of Finance, the Financial Analyst is responsible for analyzing financial data, preparing reports, and providing actionable insights to support strategic decision-making. This role evaluates financial performance, develops forecasts, and supports leadership in planning and investment decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze financial statements, trends, and performance indicators
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Develop financial models and forecasts
- Conduct variance analysis and identify performance drivers
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning
- Assist with capital expenditure analysis
- Collaborate with accounting and operational teams
- Improve financial processes and internal controls
- Present financial findings to management and leadership
- Assist with year-end reporting and journal entries
- Provide reports to Council and Directors as required
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (CPA is an asset)
- 2–5 years of experience in financial analysis or related role
- Experience with budgeting and forecasting
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills
- Knowledge of Finance policies
- Experience with financial software
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Knowledge of Algonquin culture; language is an asset
Working Conditions
- Office environment
- May require extended hours during budgeting cycles or year-end
- Valid driver’s license required
- Must pass a criminal records check
