Long Point First Nation is seeking applicants for the position of Financial Analyst within the Finance Department.

📍 Location: Long Point First Nation
🕒 Schedule: 35 hours per week
📅 Deadline: April 30, 2026
💰 Salary: $49,959 – $70,597.80


Position Overview

Under the direction of the Director of Finance, the Financial Analyst is responsible for analyzing financial data, preparing reports, and providing actionable insights to support strategic decision-making. This role evaluates financial performance, develops forecasts, and supports leadership in planning and investment decisions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze financial statements, trends, and performance indicators
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  • Develop financial models and forecasts
  • Conduct variance analysis and identify performance drivers
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning
  • Assist with capital expenditure analysis
  • Collaborate with accounting and operational teams
  • Improve financial processes and internal controls
  • Present financial findings to management and leadership
  • Assist with year-end reporting and journal entries
  • Provide reports to Council and Directors as required
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (CPA is an asset)
  • 2–5 years of experience in financial analysis or related role
  • Experience with budgeting and forecasting
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Knowledge of Finance policies
  • Experience with financial software
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Knowledge of Algonquin culture; language is an asset

Working Conditions

  • Office environment
  • May require extended hours during budgeting cycles or year-end
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Must pass a criminal records check
